J. Richard Bond
J. Richard 'Dick' Bond (* 1950 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian astrophysicist and cosmologist.
After studying mathematics and physics at the University of Toronto and Caltech , he obtained his doctorate in theoretical physics in 1979 with William A. Fowler at Caltech. Since 1985 he has been a professor at the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics (CITA) and at the University of Toronto.
Bond's most important work deals with the theoretical modeling of anisotropies of cosmic background radiation . The comparison of such models with the more and more detailed measurements of these anisotropies since the 1990s is one of the foundations of today's cosmology and understanding of the evolution of galaxies.
