Rabbi Ja'akov-Micha'el Chasani ( Hebrew יַעֲקֹב-מִיכָאֵל חַזָּנִי, as Ja'akov Kantrovitsch in Hebrew יַעֲקֹב-מִיכָאֵל קַנְטרוֹביץ`; * June 27, 1913 in Będzin , Weichselland in the Russian Empire ; † July 2, 1975 in Israel ) was an Israeli politician. From 1970 to 1974 and after a brief hiatus again from 1974 to 1975 he was Minister of Welfare and Social Services in Israel.

Life

Chasani received his rabbinical ordination at the “Torat Chaim” yeshiva in Warsaw and immigrated to Palestine in 1932 , where he worked in the Hagana .

In 1951 he became a member of the Knesset for HaPo'el haMisrachi . He was re-elected in 1955, 1959 (where he joined the National Religious Party ), 1961, 1965 and 1969. On December 22, 1969 he became Deputy Minister of Education and held this office until September 1, 1970. He was then appointed Minister of Welfare and Social Services and held this office until April 4, 1974. He was reappointed to this office on October 30, 1974 and held it until his death.
