Jack Bonnell Dennis (born October 13, 1931 in Elizabeth (New Jersey) ) is an American computer scientist .

Live and act

The son of Wolcott Dennis from Seattle and Nereide Bonnell studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1949 , earned his master's degree in 1954, received his doctorate in electrical engineering in 1958 and became a professor in 1969 . In 1987 he retired. From 1988 to 2000 he was President of Dataflow Computer Corporation. From 1996 to 2001 he was Chief Scientist of Acorn Networks.

He was involved in the first time sharing work on MIT's PDP-1 .

Later he was a founding member of the Multics project and developed single-level memory . He was also one of the founders of the concept of data flow architecture .

In 1984 he received the Eckert-Mauchly Award . For 2013 he was awarded the John von Neumann Medal . He is a Fellow of the IEEE and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

He has been married since 1982 and has three children.
