Jack Foley

Jack Donovan Foley (born April 12, 1891 in Yorkville , New York , † November 9, 1967 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American filmmaker for films. The foley artists, who are called Foley Artists in English, are named after him . The appropriately equipped studio in which the noises are produced is called the Foley Studio .

Life

Although Foley never worked as a sound editor, he was made an honorary member of the Motion Picture Sound Editors in 1962. In 1997, 30 years after his death, he received a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award from this organization for his life's work.
