John Stephen "Jack" Klotz (* 5. December 1932 in Chester , Pennsylvania ) is a former American American football poker players. He played as an offensive tackle and defensive tackle in the American Football League (AFL) with the New York Titans , the San Diego Chargers and the New York Jets , as well as the Houston Oilers .

Player career

Jack Klotz studied at Widener University and played for their lower-class football team as a tackle in defense and offense football . In 1955 he was voted All American . 1956 Jack Klotz was from the Los Angeles Rams in the 18th round of the 216th spot drafted . Klotz decided, however, only in 1960 to accept an offer from the New York Titans, who played in the newly founded AFL. The trainer of the Titans was Sammy Baugh , who used Klotz both in defense and offense to protect his own quarterback . In 1962, Bulldog Turner took over the coaching position with the Titans and Klotz moved to the San Diego Chargers, supervised by Sid Gillman , during the season . In the following game year, the Titans were renamed Jets and Weeb Ewbank took over the position of head coach . Klotz returned to his former team in New York City . He never won the title with the Titans or the Jets. In 1964, Sammy Baugh had taken over the coaching position with the Houston Oilers. Klotz was hired by the Oilers. At the beginning of the 1964 season, he suffered an injury that limited his playing time. After the season he ended his career. It took him two years to recover from his most recent sports injury.

After the career

After his career, Jack Klotz became a coach and assistant coach for various lower-class professional football teams. From 1967 to 1990 he also worked as an assistant coach for the basketball team at his old college. Klotz was also active in the energy industry with his own company. After his company went down, he worked as a teacher and volunteer in child welfare . In 2010 he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame .
