Jack Rose (born November 4, 1911 in Warsaw , Generalgouvernement Warsaw , Russian Empire ; † October 21, 1995 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American screenwriter of Russian-Polish origin.

Life

Jack Rose began his career as a joke writer for Milton Berle and Bob Hope . In 1943 he wrote his first screenplay. "His" films Hausboot and General Pfeifendeckel are well known , in which he worked both as a screenwriter and as a producer .

As a producer, he was involved in ten film and television productions from the mid-1950s to the late 1960s. His work as a screenwriter includes more than 30 works.

He was nominated three times for an Oscar , twice he was honored by the Writers Guild of America , in 1984 he received the WGA Laurel Award for his complete works .
