Jackson do Pandeiro (born August 31, 1919 in Alagoa Grande , Paraíba , † July 10, 1982 in Brasília ; actually José Gomes Filho ) was a Brazilian musician .

The musician, who was called "O Rei do Ritmo", was after Luiz Gonzaga one of the most important interpreters of the forró and other styles of the Brazilian northeast. The master of pandeiro , hence his stage name, was also a singer. He first appeared as a band musician in restaurants and cabarets in Campinas , later in João Pessoa , before making numerous records. His first hit in the early 1950s was the song "Sebastiana", which is now popular all over Brazil and also internationally known.

Jackson do Pandeiro, who had been diabetic since the 1960s, died at the age of 62 during a concert tour as a result of a pulmonary and brain embolism.
