The Jackstädt GmbH was a company in the market of self-adhesive papers and films.

history

Jackstädt was founded as a fine paper wholesaler by Wilhelm Jackstädt in Wuppertal in 1920 . Werner Jackstädt joined his father's company in 1947, and under his leadership the self-adhesive materials market with self-adhesive postcards was launched in 1949 .

In the 1950s, the business area changed, the business of paper wholesaling was abandoned and only self-adhesive papers and foils were produced. The headquarters were in Wuppertal- Elberfeld , the largest of the nine production facilities was in the neighboring town of Schwelm, east of Wuppertal.

Former administration of Jackstädt GmbH (2013)

The Jac trademark had a high international reputation. In 2001 the group employed 2100 people worldwide and achieved non-consolidated sales of around 1.2 billion German marks , consolidated around 400 million dollars. When Jackstadt's strength decreased due to illness, he decided to sell his group of companies to the American Avery Dennison Corporation . The sale was approved by the Cartel Office in May 2002 .

A portion of the sales proceeds of € 200 million (approximately $ 295 million less loan commitments assumed) were contributed to the Jackstädt Foundation . The production facilities, now part of Avery Dennison, operate under the name of JAC Graphics . In the meantime, the former Jackstädt company has been restructured along the product lines (roll / format goods), the Valenciennes plant ( France ) was closed and the formerly largest plant in Schwelm was combined with the Avery plant in Gotha to form Avery-Dennison Materials GmbH .

Others

Herwarth Jackstädt's brother founded Herwarth Jackstädt GmbH in Wuppertal in 1955 , a company that manufactures film packaging.
