Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey is an American Jazz Band , which in 1994 Tulsa in the state of Oklahoma was founded.

The band with the ironic title Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey ( JFJO , none of the band members is called Jacob Fred), includes influences from jazz, rock music and funk in their music; the role models range from Miles Davis (the electrical phase) and Jimi Hendrix to Sun Ra , John Coltrane , Cecil Taylor , Larry Young and John Scofield . JFJO was founded in February 1994 in Tulsa by Brian Haas (keyboards, piano) and Reed Mathis (e-bass), both of whom had received classical music training and formed the core of the group until Mathis left the group in 2009. In 1995 the debut album, Live at the Lincoln Continental , was released, followed by Live in Tokyo (1996).
