Jakob Heinrich Baleke , also Jacob He (i) nrich , also Balecke (* August 5, 1731 in Parchim ; † September 17, 1778 in Rostock ), was a German lawyer, senator and mayor of the Hanseatic city from 1764 until his death in 1778 Rostock.

Life

Jakob Heinrich Baleke, a son of the Parchim mayor Friedrich Baleke (died around 1768), attended the school in Parchim and from 1747 the Schwerin cathedral school . From 1749 he studied law at the University of Rostock and 1751/52 at the University of Göttingen . In Rostock he received his doctorate in the same year and also received the council's full professorship of the Codicis. In 1755 he was next to Friedrich , the Duke of Mecklenburg [-Schwerin], Pro-Rector of the university. On November 23, 1754, Balecke was elected Senator and on December 11, 1764 he became mayor as the successor to his late father-in-law Christian Anton Mantzel. From 1766 he held the position of first council counsel in addition to the professorship and mayor's office. He was particularly concerned with the Rostock city law and prepared the negotiations for the Second Rostock Inheritance Treaty , which he did not live to see to be signed in 1788.
