Jacob Heinrich Born

Jacob Heinrich Born (born February 2 or June 2, 1717 in Leipzig ; † December 3, 1775 in Dresden ) was an Electoral Saxon lawyer and mayor of Leipzig seven times between 1759 and 1775 .

Career

Born's father, Jacob Born the Younger , was the mayor of Leipzig and Pro-Chancellor of the Upper Court . Born studied law in Leipzig from 1736 . After completing his studies in 1738, he was awarded a doctorate by the law faculty of the University of Leipzig the following year in Leipzig with the study "De Jure stapulae et nundinarum civitatis". iur. PhD.

In 1739 Born became a councilor in Leipzig. In 1750 he was appointed city judge and in 1758 proconsul. In 1759, 1762, 1765, 1767, 1770, 1772 and 1775 he was mayor of the city of Leipzig. Born died in office. Christian Wilhelm Küstner ran his business until the election in 1776 .

Born was council librarian from 1761. He was also the Electoral Chancellor of Wurzen .

In 1749 he married Johanna Christiana Schacher (1725–1754), daughter of Dr. med. and Dean of the Medical Faculty of the University of Leipzig Polycarp Gottlieb Schacher . They had their son Jacob Heinrich Born (baptized July 3, 1750 St. Nicolai Leipzig) and their daughter Susanna Christiana Henriette (d. February 20, 1753–1811), who married Gottlob Graf von Beust.

On March 24, 1768, Jacob Heinrich Born received confirmation of imperial nobility, but initially did not include the “von” in his name. Only his two children did this. With the death of his son Jacob Heinrich von Born, this branch of the family died out.
