Life
Jacob III Balthasar was the only son of the Anklam pastor Jacob Balthasar (1560-1605) and Anna Martens.
He was married to Gertrud Burmeister (* 1598 in Anklam, † April 21, 1663 in Anklam) and had at least five children, including Jacob and Augustin .
At the age of 19 he became a master's degree at the university, and two years later he became vice-principal at the city school in Anklam. In 1619 he followed a call as princely court and town preacher in Franzburg near Stralsund. In 1628 he became his father-in-law's assistant at the Nikolaikirche in Anklam, where he moved up full-time in 1642, but in 1664 he moved to the Marienkirche , where his portrait was also located until 1945. In the same year he became a Praepositus . His wife Gertrud was the daughter of his predecessor Augustin Burmeister. The latter was rector in Anklam, in 1612 pastor at St. Marien and Nicolai zu Anklam and as an astronomer discovered the "Comet 1618" before Kepler .
