Zuccalmaglio had studied law and was a lawyer and notary at the court of the Windeck office in Waldbröl . Shortly after the birth of his son Anton Wilhelm, he was transferred to the Miselohe office in 1803 and initially lived in the Friedenberger Hof in Opladen , where he was mayor in 1810 and 1811. In 1804 the family moved to the so-called “Doktersgut” in Schlebusch . From 1808 to 1818 Zuccalmaglio was mayor of Schlebusch, but had other official duties as a notary, landowner and police bailiff. In this context he was responsible for putting out the fire in the Altenberg monastery in 1815 . The extinguishing work turned out to be difficult because extinguishers had also been sold in the course of secularization. When the abbey church was opened in Altenberg in 1847 after its reconstruction, Montanus ( Vincenz von Zuccalmaglio , a son of Jacob Salentin) invited a few hundred singers to the solemn greeting of the king. Their task was to sing a cantata composed by Montanus, which Kapellmeister Heinrich Dorn had set to music. The king was so impressed that he wanted to please the poet of the text and had his family coat of arms installed in one of the windows.

new bronze bust of Zuccalmaglio in the Haus der Kunst in Burscheid for the 200th anniversary of the Musical Academy

In 1812 Salentin founded the Musicalische Academie zu Burscheid from 1812 . The city of Burscheid paid tribute to him in 1937 with a bust in front of the Haus der Kunst. In 2011, however, this was stolen by metal thieves and never reappeared. For this reason, a new bust was made for the 200th anniversary of the academy and was ceremoniously unveiled in the Haus der Kunst.
