Jacob Yuchtman
Jacob Yuchtman , also Jacob Yukhtman (born January 14, 1935 in Tashkent , Soviet Union , † January 26, 1985 in New York , NY ) was a Soviet-American chess master .
Yuchtman won the 1953 championship of Ukraine in Kiev. His most significant success in the Soviet Union was his victory in 1959 in the state championship in blitz chess. At the Ukrainian championship in 1964 he achieved the 2nd / 3rd. Space. Winning games against world-class players such as Michail Tal (at the 1959 USSR championship in Tbilisi), Boris Vasilyevich Spassky , Viktor Korchnoi and Isaak Boleslawski showed his skill level.
In the early 1970s, he first emigrated to Israel and then to the USA. In the USA he was considered one of the strongest players.
In the 1974/75 season he was part of the German Chess League for the Königsspringer Frankfurt team . During this season he defeated Robert Huebner in a team fight .
It reached its best historical rating of 2622 in April 1960.
Since 1975 he has been playing increasingly backgammon .
