Jacobo Zabludovsky

Jacobo Zabludovsky (born May 24, 1928 in Mexico City ; † July 2, 2015 there ) was a Mexican journalist of Polish descent.

Zabludovsky interviewed personalities such as Salvador Dali , Cantinflas , Pope John Paul II , Bill Gates and Pablo Casals . One of his outstanding journalistic achievements was the interview he conducted with Che Guevara after his arrival in Havana on January 8, 1959 . Another milestone was his report on the earthquake that devastated large parts of Mexico City in September 1985, killing nearly 10,000 people as a result.

Jacobo Zabludovsky was born in Mexico City in the Merced district. He studied law, but felt drawn to journalism from an early age. His career began in 1946 in the radio. From 1950 he worked for television. He created Mexico's first professional news program. For 27 years he directed and presented the 24 horas (German: 24 hours), the most watched news program in the country, for Televisa . Most recently he wrote for the daily newspaper El Universal .

Zabludovsky died on July 2, 2015, at the age of 87, of complications from a stroke in a hospital in Mexico City to which he had previously been admitted for dehydration .
