Gustaf Hugo Friedrich Emil Dickhuth , von Dickhuth-Harrach since 1913 (born July 18, 1856 in Breslau , † May 21, 1932 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian infantry general in the First World War .

Life

Dickhuth studied at the Silesian Friedrich Wilhelms University . In 1876 he became a corps bow bearer of the Marcomannia Breslau .

He then joined the Prussian Army and was promoted to lieutenant on October 10, 1877 . In the further course of his military career, Dickhuth-Harrach was from 1907 as a colonel (since April 14, 1907) Chief of the General Staff of the XVII. Army Corps in Gdansk . This was followed by his transfer to Stettin and the appointment as commander of the grenadier regiment "King Friedrich Wilhelm IV." (1st Pomeranian) No. 2 . Promoted to major general with effect from March 20, 1911 , he took over the 6th Infantry Brigade, which was also stationed in Stettin .

On June 16, 1913, Dickhuth was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility under the name Dickhuth-Harrach on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the reign of Wilhelm II as King of Prussia .

Dickhuth was promoted to lieutenant general on January 27, 1914 and at the same time appointed governor of Thorn . He held this position on the Eastern Front after the outbreak of the First World War. From February 1915, Dickhuth acted as the leader of a corps named after him, which was subordinate to the Gallwitz Army Department and was used in the Narew offensive . At the end of September 1915, the 87th Division was formed from the corps . Dickhuth-Harrach gave up his division on July 5, 1916 and instead took over the 201st Division , with which he continued to fight on the Eastern Front. On November 11, 1917 he was appointed deputy commanding general of the 1st Army Corps .

Shortly after the end of World War II, he wrote to his corps in the November Revolution November 24, 1918

“Unfortunately, due to the time constraints, I cannot come to the foundation festival… I have now voluntarily retired from the army.
