Jacqueline Kornmüller (* 1961 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a German director .

Professional development

Jacqueline Kornmüller studied art history, history and literature at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich before moving to the Folkwang School in Essen-Werden in 1984 to study drama with Nicole Heesters . Her first engagement took her to the Schauspiel Köln . In 1993 she played the title role in The Seagull by Anton Pawlowitsch Chekhov in the production by Dimiter Gotscheff . The first directorial work emerged during this time, such as B. Knives in Hens by David Harrower .

From 2000 she became in-house director at the Stuttgart State Theater . Here she staged Bremer Freiheit by Rainer Werner Fassbinder , Elektra by Hugo von Hofmannsthal and The Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht. Invitations to the Prague Theater Festival and Cechov Festival in Moscow followed. In 2005 she moved to the Hamburg Schauspielhaus and opened with The Woman from the Sea by Henrik Ibsen , in 2006 she developed the evening Rosi with 30 women and men over 65 , you did well .

In 2008 she founded the group "when the time comes" with Peter Wolf and has since worked on interdisciplinary and intercultural projects such as the ganymed series at the Kunsthistorisches Museum (KHM) in Vienna, for which she and Peter Wolf won the Bank Austria art prize and the Nestroy Theater Prize. Kornmüller developed the idea and concept for the project Die Reise (2011) - a project with 30 migrants that she staged at the Volkstheater Wien , for which she received the Dorothea Neff Prize for Best Director. In 2015, she staged The Message of Cambodia by Zadie Smith in the Jörgerbad in Vienna. In 2016 she installed an opening project for the European Capital of Culture Wrocław: Muzeum Marzen, and the project In the Heart of Democracy for the Austrian Parliament.

Awards
