Jacques Desjardin
Jacques Desjardin , occasionally Jacques Desjardins (born February 9, 1759 in Angers , † February 11, 1807 in Landsberg / East Prussia ) was a French Général de division of the infantry .
Life
Desjardin came from a humble background: his father was a servant and his mother a day laborer.
On September 8, 1776 Desjardin volunteered for the royal army. He was brave and quickly made a career.
In the battle of Jemappes (November 6, 1792) he led his own command with the rank of colonel . He took u. a. at the siege of Namur (November / December 1792) and fought under the generals Louis-Auguste Juvénal des Ursins d'Harville and Charles-Francois Dumouriez . From 1796/97 Desjardin had more administrative tasks and did not return to France until 1800.
At the end of February 1804 Desjardin came to the staff of Marshal Charles Pierre François Augereau and fought a. a. in the Battle of Elchingen (October 14, 1805), the Battle of Ulm (October 8, 1805) and the Battle of Austerlitz (December 2, 1805).
After further promotion, Desjardin came to General Jacques Lefranc and fought alongside Pierre Belon Lapisse in the Battle of Jena and Auerstedt (October 14, 1806), the Battle of Czarnowo (December 23/24, 1806), the Battle of Golymin ( December 26 , 1806) . December 1806) and the Battle of Preussisch Eylau (February 7/9, 1807). In the latter fights Desjardin was very badly wounded and died in the military hospital near Landsberg (East Prussia) on February 11 of the same year.
