Jacques Faber (born April 1, 1940 ) is a Belgian-French actor and director .

education

The son of a French woman and a Belgian first studied architecture and then trained as an actor. After graduating from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Etterbeek , he studied at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels . He then took acting lessons from Henri Rollan in Paris.

Theater roles

In 1956 he made his theater debut as Benjamin in Eugène Labiche's La Cagnotte at the Théâtre Royal du Parc à Bruxelles. He was a member of the Compagnie Le Camélia, where he played until 1960. In between he went on tour with Paul Doux's troupe, for example in the title role of Jean Racines Britannicus in 1959. Since 1960 Jacques Faber has also played on Parisian theaters, including the Théâtre Marigny and Théâtre de l'Est. After a brief return to Belgian theaters, he played at the Center du Sud-Est in southern France from the late 1960s.

Film rolls

He made his film debut in 1961 in the Belgian film Verführung in Blond (La tricheuse) . Jacques Faber has also played in French productions since the mid-1960s, for example as Tarzan alongside Jacques Duby and Geneviève Grad in François Chatel's L'amour en papier (1966), in series such as La Prunelle (1967) and L'homme qui rit (1970 ) and as Prosper Bertomy alongside Catherine Rouvel in Nina Gipsy (1972). He played in Jean Yannes The Big Mesh (1972) and Joseph Loseys Monsieur Klein (1976). In the mid-1970s, Jacques Faber played with Darry Cowl in two French military outfits : as Lieutenant Fichier in Oh lala - The Little Blonds Are There (1977) and as Captain Bert Colloghan in Two Super Guys in Africa (1978).

Director and writer

Jacques Faber also worked as an assistant director to Georges Franju and Pierre Gaspard-Huit from 1966 . After making a short film in 1968, Jacques Faber made his first feature film in 1975, the drama Le Choix with Claude Jade in a double role. Le Choix was Belgium's official contribution to the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 1976 . The film was clearly autobiographical. In 1986 and 1987 he directed two other short films.

Jacques Faber, who also worked as a screenwriter (for Michel Gérard's Les Joyeuses Colonies de vacances ), published his novel Au delà de la nuit in 2007 .
