Jacques Nikonoff (born January 27, 1952 in Suresnes ) is a French economist.

Life

The grandson of a Russian sailor who settled in France began as a 16-year-old as a metal welder at Norton in La Courneuve . Just two years later he became a full-time employee of the Confédération générale du travail and the local Parti communiste français (PCF).

When Norton was closed around 1978, he began studying education at the University of Paris VIII and then attended the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers and the Institut d'études politiques de Paris . In 1984 he passed the entrance exam to the École nationale d'administration (ENA).

He worked as a consultant at the state bank Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations , for which he worked between 1989 and 1992 as a French financial attaché and as an observer of the American stock exchange operations in New York.

1999–2001 he was a member of the PCF board. He was a founding member of the Un travail pour chacun movement and was involved with Attac .
