Jacques Robichez

Jacques Gérard Eugène Robichez (born December 11, 1914 in La Madeleine ; † October 21, 1999 ) was a French literary scholar, theater scholar, Romance studies and university professor.

Life

Jacques Robichez attended a Catholic school in Marcq-en-Barœul (1921-1931), the Lycée Henri IV in Paris (1931-1934), the Lycée Faidherbe in Lille and studied at the University of Lille . In 1937 he passed the Agrégation in Lettres . 1944–1945 he fought in the 1st French Army and was awarded the War Cross.

From 1951 to 1953 he taught at the Lycée Hoche in Versailles . In 1957 he completed his habilitation with work on Aurélien Lugné-Poe and was professor of French literature first at the University of Lille, and from 1965 to 1984 at the Sorbonne . In addition, from 1979 to 1988 he was in charge of teaching French cultural studies for foreigners at the Sorbonne. He was chairman of the Science Council of the Front National and a member of the Legion of Honor .
