Jacques Vidal
Jacques Vidal (born October 13, 1949 in Athis-Mons ) is a French modern jazz bassist .
Live and act
Vidal became interested in jazz when he was 17 . He took a drum course with Kenny Clarke and then switched to the double bass , which he studied at the Versailles Conservatory. From 1969 to 1970 he was a member of the first edition of Magma . He then toured with Philly Joe Jones , Pepper Adams and Barry Altschul and has appeared with Frédéric Sylvestre in duos, trios and quartet formations since 1978 , with whom he recorded five albums in the 1980s. In 1995 he founded his quintet, with which he released four albums and increasingly developed the work of Charles Mingus . He also accompanied Christian Escoudé , Lee Konitz , Mal Waldron , Byard Lancaster , Joachim Kühn and Glenn Ferris . He also recorded with the Richard Turegano Quintet.
