Jagdhof Hasselfelde

The Jagdhof Hasselfelde , also called Alte Königsburg , is an abandoned royal hunting farm in the area of the Stadt Hasselfelde district of the town of Oberharz am Brocken in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The Jagdhof, a spur castle , was located east of Hasselfelde on the spur of the so-called cheese mountain (Kaiserberg), directly at the ford through the Hassel . To the east of the round core castle , on the rear plateau, separated from it by a moat and rampart, there may have been a bailey or farmyards.

history

The Jagdhof was laid out during the reign of King Henry I (919–936). It served the first German kings as a place to stay during their hunts in the Harz Mountains. For the years 1043 and 1052 the stay of Emperor Heinrich III. attested by certificates issued here. With the weakening of the German central authority at the end of the 11th century, the Jagdhof Hasselfelde was eliminated from the history of the empire and became part of the county of Blankenburg . Around 1150 the castle was the seat of the bailiffs of Hasselfelde, who supervised the property of the Blankenburg counts from here. When the city was founded in 1222, the castle lost its importance. The administration of the Blankenburg headquarters will then have been carried out by the walled city of Hasselfelde.
