Jaimi Faulkner
Jaimi Faulkner (born July 3, 1982 in Melbourne , Australia ) is a singer , musician , songwriter and producer living in Düsseldorf . He is a representative of blues , soul , folk , rock and pop music .
The early years in Australia
He called his debut album "Last Light" (2004). In the following years Jaimi Faulkner devoted himself to live performance and toured extensively as a solo artist or with his band through Australia, as well as supporting acts such as Chris Whitley , Chris Isaak and Paul Young . He also represented Australia at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis (Tennessee) . At this time, his travels also took him to Europe for the first time. His next album "Kiss and Ride" was released in 2009. The only live album so far "All I Can" was created in 2010 in a studio in Solingen . The tours in Germany and the Netherlands were successful and he finally decided to move to Berlin in 2010 .
Europe
His first European album “Turn Me Around” (2012) was created in Berlin and Amsterdam . During the recordings he worked with brass and string arrangements. A clear sign of change was his duet with the Dutch artist Jerusa van Lith : “When I Lean In”. He also met the keyboardist Leon den Engelsen , who was already involved in some of the songs on this album.
Jaimi Faulkner toured Europe mostly solo, also supporting artists such as Crosby, Stills & Nash , Vonda Shepard , Tom Odell , Tony Joe White , Mobilée and Nick Howard .
Den Engelsen added Judith Renkema (bass) and Luuk Adams (drums) from his shared apartment . The European Jaimi Faulkner Band was born. Faulkner performed more and more often with his new band. A cover version of the hit " once around the world " (Cro) translated into English in western and country style called the well-known German producer Ralf Mayer onto the scene. In Málaga he recorded and produced the songs for the album "Up All Night" (2015) together with the band. It became a pop work with lots of beats. The "craftsman" Jaimi Faulkner did not always like this, which led to tension and later also to a reconsideration. Jaimi sang a soulful duet with Sarah Bettens : "Lost Love".
In 2015 Jaimi Faulkner released a solo DVD with backstage impressions.
After the single "Early Morning Coffee Cup" was released in March 2017, Jaimi and his band moved into an old half-timbered house in northern Germany for a short time . There they created "Back Road" (2017). His texts are becoming increasingly political. The last two studio albums were financed through crowdfunding .
On January 6, 2018, there was one last joint appearance at a small festival in Essen . In the 1/2018 issue, the “Guitar Acoustic” magazine published a celebrity workshop with the artist. Jaimi Faulkner is touring the world again as a soloist in 2018.
