The Jainzental is a small valley near Bad Ischl in the Salzkammergut in Upper Austria .

Location and landscape

The Jainzental is located north of the Ischl city center . It exposes the Jainzenberg  ( 834  m above sea level ), one of the city mountains, from the Stock der Zimnitz (Leonsberg1745  m above sea level ) so that it forms an island mountain in the Ischler basin . To the north of it rise Graseck  ( 928  m above sea level ) and Gstättenberg  ( 916  m above sea level ), two fore-gates of the Hochjoch  ( 1315  m above sea level ) in the east ridge of the Zimnitz.

The valley extends from the Jainzen district , northwest of the center on the Ischl (Ischler Ache) at around 480  m , all the way to Roith , northeast on the Traun . It forms a valley pass at 549  m above sea level. A. Height. At Jainzen the Saiherbach goes with a small feeder from the Hochjoch to the Ischl, at Roith the Jainzenbach goes from the Graseck to the Traun, with the mouth at about 460  m .

History and sights

The valley, which is essentially uninhabited to this day, was already considered a romantic locality in the beginning of the summer vacation time in the Salzkammergut, here some pleasure complexes were built in the hallway at the time called Jainzen-Ramsau at the valley entrance, so Dolca's Abendsitz , donated by the Princess von Lubomirsky , and the way up to the Hohenzoll waterfall of the Saiherbach, the name of which goes back to the Princess Hohenzollern-Hechingen , with the Dachstein view of the captain von Stierle-Holzmeister.
