Jajpur (also Jajapur ) is the capital of the district of the same name in the east of the Indian state of Odisha .
Jajpur lies in the coastal plain 60 km northeast of Cuttack . The city lies on the right bank of the Baitarani river .
Jajpur has the status of a municipality as a city . The city is divided into 17 wards . In the 2011 census, the population was 37,458.
