Jakob Ahlers

Jakob Ahlers , also Jacob Ahlers , (* 1876 in Hamburg ; † 1950 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife ) was a German diplomat and entrepreneur .

Life

Jakob Ahlers came from Hamburg and had owned a Compañía Consignataria de Buques in Santa Cruz at the port of Tenerife since 1906. He became consul of the German Empire in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where he also represented numerous German trading companies and banks. He is considered one of the promoters of tourism in Tenerife and wrote a travel guide for the Canary Islands.

From 1919 he had German school lessons regularly given in his summer house. Later the German School Santa Cruz de Tenerife was established .
