Jakob Me'ir Geri ( Hebrew יעקב (מאיר) גרי, actually Jack Gering in Hebrew ג'ק גרינג; * September 18, 1901 in Seda ; † December 18, 1974 in Israel ) was an Israeli politician, lawyer and entrepreneur. Although he was never elected to the Knesset , Geri became Minister of Commerce and Economy in the second government of David Ben-Gurion between 1950 and 1951. His appointment to this office was seen in public as a concession to the General Zionists , the United The Religious Front was against his nomination.

Geri studied law and humanities at the Witwatersrand University . After working as a lawyer in South Africa for several years , he traveled to Europe in 1932 before immigrating to Israel in 1934 . Before serving as minister, Geri was director of the African-Palestine Investment Company . His brother Bernard Gering was chairman of the board of the South African Zionist Federation . After leaving the government, Jakob Geri headed a merger of several South African companies in Israel.
