Jakob Hefti (musician)

Jakob Hefti (born September 12, 1947 in Schwanden , Canton Glarus ) is a Swiss horn player and chamber musician .

The Glarus horn player Jakob Hefti studied in Zurich , Amsterdam and with Hermann Baumann in Essen . From 1971 to 1973 he played as principal horn in the St. Gallen Municipal Orchestra and from 1973 to 1975 in the Bern Symphony Orchestra . From 1975 he was principal horn player in the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich for over three decades . In his Zurich soloist position, Gustav Mahler's orchestral literature , especially his 9th Symphony from 1910 (horn solo part in the last movement), but also Anton Bruckner, received great attention.

Jakob Hefti has been a lecturer for horn and natural horn as well as chamber music at the Lucerne School of Music since 1983, and has held a professorship there since 2002.
