Jakob Madl

Jakob Mädl (born April 13, 1896 in Mönchhof ; † December 2, 1978 in Neusiedl am See ) was an Austrian principal school director and politician ( ÖVP ). He was a member of the Burgenland State Parliament , National Council and member of the Federal Council .

Life

Mädl was born as the son of the farmer Theodor Mädl from Mönchhof and attended elementary school in Mönchhof. After attending the community school in Kapuva , Mädl switched to the teacher training college in Modern near Bratislava . He also attended the College for Education of Citizenship School Professors in Budapest and was active as a citizen school professor from 1920. In 1925 he moved to Rust , where he took over the post of principal school director. From 1928, Mädl was principal school director of the Neusiedl am See secondary school. After several weeks of political imprisonment, Mädl was forced into retirement in 1938. He was back in school between 1942 and 1944 and was drafted into the Wehrmacht from 1944 to 1945. After the Second World War, Mädl worked again as principal school director in Neusiedl and was district school inspector for the Neusiedl district. Mädl was appointed school councilor in 1947 and government councilor in 1961.

politics

From 1927 to 1958, Mädl was Deputy Mayor of Rust and, from 1932, District Party Chairman of the Christian Social Party and, from 1934, District Leader of the Landschützen von Neusiedl am See. Madl belonged to the state parliament between November 11, 1934 and March 12, 1938 and was arrested in 1938. After the Second World War, Mädl took over the office of mayor of Neusiedl between 1951 and 1962 and was a member of the Federal Council between December 6, 1949 and February 22, 1953, and Chairman of the Federal Council from January 1, 1951 to June 30, 1951. After that, Mädl was a member of the National Council between March 18, 1953 and June 9, 1959.

Awards

In 1967 he received the ring of honor of the city of Neusiedl am See.
