Hans Herke
Hans Herke (born May 27, 1902 in Lienz , † March 16, 1991 in Klagenfurt ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and an official of the Austrian Federal Railways . He was 1945-1949 State Deputy Governor in Carinthia , 1949-1956 member of the Bundesrat and 1956-1964 Member of the National Council .
Life
After elementary school, Herke attended a community school and learned the trade of gardener. He then worked as a federal railway official for the Austrian Federal Railways. Because of his union and party activities, Herke was imprisoned in the Lienz District Court, the Innsbruck Regional Court and the Wöllersdorf detention camp .
After the Second World War he worked as a member of the Klagenfurt municipal council and city council and was active as a member of the state parliament in Carinthia from December 10, 1945 to July 18, 1956. At the same time, Herke was elected Deputy Governor on December 10, 1945, and held this position until November 14, 1949. After that, Herke was a member of the Federal Council between November 7, 1949 and June 1, 1956, and also chaired the Federal Council from July 1, 1951 to December 31, 1951 and from July 1, 1951 to December 31, 1951 . After that, Herke was a member of the National Council from June 8, 1956 to February 22, 1964. Furthermore, Herke was a member of the district committee of the SPÖ Klagenfurt and chairman of the Kärntner Volkshilfe .
