Life

Jakob Oeckhl was born the son of a bricklayer or farmer. He married in Vienna in 1696 . After the death of his wife in 1719, he married Maria Anna Angerer. Her son Josef Anton Oeckhl von Helmberg became Reichshofratskanzleischreiber and in 1753 raised to the nobility. When Maria Anna died in 1728, Jakob inherited shares in two houses. He married again, Maria Anna Waller. In 1714, Oeckhl took the oath as a master mason in Vienna . Oeckhl's most important work is the Jakobuskirche in Kaltenleuthaben , the construction of which he not only planned and carried out himself, but also financed himself. He established the Church on a vow for the good birth of his first child. Oeckhl owned numerous houses in Vienna, such as the Palais Oeckhl on Schwarzenbergplatz , as well as in Salzgries and Kaltenleuthaben. In 1740 he was a member of the Inner City Council of the City of Vienna.

Oeckhl was buried in the crypt of the Schottenkirche in Vienna in 1754 , which was a great honor.
