Catholic parish church of St. James the Elder in Kaltenleutgabe

The parish church of Kaltenleutzüge stands on a step in the terrain in an elevated position below a rock face of the Gaisberg in the market town of Kaltenleutgabe in the Mödling district in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to St. James the Elder , belongs to the Perchtoldsdorf deanery in the vicariate Unter dem Wienerwald of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church with walling and stairs is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

A chapel was mentioned in a document in 1624. The church was built between 1729 and 1732 with the architect Jakob Öckl on the site of an older chapel on a plateau above the baroque fountain house. In 1783 the church was elevated to a parish church.

architecture

The baroque church building in the longitudinal center with a cross-shaped floor plan has an eastern tower facade. The distinctive, high-proportioned building with slightly protruding transverse arms stands under a mansard roof with a uniform eaves line, the nave facades have pilaster strips and two-zone window division with segmented arched windows and oval windows placed above them. The vestibule attached to the west is gabled. The three-storey east tower presented shows pilasters and pipe capitals, arched sound windows, and a squat onion helmet.

The nave shows a relief fragment of St. Jacob as a pilgrim from the second half of the 16th century.

Furnishing

There are three marble altars around 1750/1760.

The organ was built by Joseph Seyberth (1850/1851).
