Today's church
The church is directly opposite the Blauer Hof . It is the first building north of the Alps to contain curved facade elements (characteristic of the high baroque ). On June 11, 1693, Emperor Leopold I personally laid the foundation stone . The architect was probably Carlo Antonio Carlone from 1693 to 1703, the construction management was carried out by Christian Alexander Oedtl . The new church was consecrated on May 31, 1699. Pastor Joseph Haller reported to the emperor and added that the church did not yet have a tower. The cross could be placed on the top of the tower as early as 1712. This construction phase was headed by Matthias Steinl until 1724. Master Johann Wieser from Kaisersteinbruch carried out the stonemasonry with the hard Kaiserstein . Hardly any documents exist about the construction work itself. In 1738 the church gate was created. From 1765–1770, Nikolaus von Pacassi added the choir. In 1892 the spire was made in a different shape. The raised terrace in front of the church was renewed in 1897/99. The statues of the four evangelists were made by the sculptor Julius Trautzl .

The vault paintings in the nave and choir from the time it was built come from Adam Obermüller (based on a design by Johann Michael Rottmayr ?) And were exposed again in 1931. The stucco under the dome cornice was made by Hieronymus Alfieri (around 1700). The high altar was built around 1784 based on a design by Johann Ferdinand Hetzendorf von Hohenberg . The late baroque pulpit was created by Johann Baptist Straub in 1730/32. Franz Ullmann rebuilt the organ in the old case (1782) in 1864.
