The Roman Catholic parish church in Breitenfurt-St. Boniface (also Waldkirche called) is in the district Breitenfurt-Ost in the municipality Breitenfurt near Vienna in the district of Mödling in Lower Austria . It is consecrated to St. Boniface and belongs to the Deanery Perchtoldsdorf in the Vicariate Unter dem Wienerwald of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The patronage festival is celebrated on June 5th . The building is a listed building .

Location description

The church is located in the district of Breitenfurt-Ost at the crossing Bonifaziusgasse / Enzmannstraße.

history

The so-called forest church was built as a lower church between 1968 and 1970 according to plans by Clemens Holzmeister . In 1990 it was significantly enlarged by an extension by Wolfgang Ullrich and reoriented to the east. In 1972 the lower church was elevated to a parish church.

architecture

Church exterior

The structure is a cross-shaped building with a raised gable roof with windows . The gable fields are emphasized by pillars or wall surfaces. The bell tower forms the end of the altar wall, which is pierced by light and wall slits. The rectory and the pastoral care rooms are attached directly to the church.

Church interior

Inside, the church forms a tent-like, covered, unified space with targeted lighting. The freely set altar wall is in three parts and has unstructured wall surfaces.

Furnishing

The ceramic wall bowls are by Gudrun Baudisch-Wittke .
