The Roman Catholic parish church Wiener Neudorf is located on Wiener Straße in the municipality Wiener Neudorf in the Mödling district in Lower Austria . It is the Feast Lady of the Snows dedicated and belongs to the deanery Mödling in the Vicariate Under the Vienna Woods to the Archdiocese of Vienna . The building is a listed building .

history

The west-facing, early classicist central building on Wiener Straße was built from 1777 according to the plans of the architect Franz Sebastian Rosenstingl or Isidor Canavale (?) Under the execution of the master builder Josef Meissl the Elder , consecrated in 1780 and elevated to a parish church in 1783.

Church building

The church with a central square crossing and hanging dome above it is a tall nave with short transverse arms. The tower top, instead of an originally planned campanile, was built in 1871, renewed in 1960 and covered with a bell dome. The organ gallery stands on Tuscan columns.

Furnishing

The classical stucco furnishings and furnishings date from the construction period. The high altar sheet was created by the Viennese academic painter Ignaz Unterberger, the two side altars integrated into the architecture bear pictures by Hubert Mauer from 1780 and 1781. The organ is by Johann Wiest from 1787.

The war memorial

The two-storey, cubic rectory with a slightly protruding central projectile and hipped roof stands south of the church and bears the inscription Christopherus Cardinalis de Migazzi 1785 FF .

War memorial

A connecting wall between the church and the rectory was built as a triumphal arch with two pointed arches in 1935 according to plans by the architect Wolf. The war memorial was later supplemented with additional panels for those who fell in World War II .
