Jakob Poulsen (born July 7, 1983 in Varde ) is a Danish football player who has played for FC Midtjylland since 2014 . His preferred position is right midfield.

Club career

Poulsen started his career at Naesbjerg RUI. In 1999 he moved to the youth department of Esbjerg fB , where he was part of the professional squad from the 2002/03 season. With Esbjerg fB he took part in the UEFA Cup in 2003/04 and 2005/06 . In the winter break of the 2005/06 season he moved to SC Heerenveen , with whom he was able to qualify again for the UEFA Cup in the 2007/08 season. However, Poulsen moved back to Denmark in summer 2008 and played for Aarhus GF from then on. In his first season he finished sixth with Aarhus. In the following year, however, the club rose from the first division. Poulsen then moved to FC Midtjylland in August 2010 .

National team career

From 2000 to 2006 Poulsen made various games for the youth national teams of Denmark (U-19, U-20 and U-21 ).

Poulsen made his debut for the Danish national football team on February 11, 2009 when he was substituted on for the game against Greece . He scored his first goal for the national team on October 10, 2009 in the World Cup qualifier against Sweden . There he scored the 1-0 winning goal, with which the Danes qualified for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa .

Jakob Poulsen himself took part in the 2010 Soccer World Cup a year later (made it into the final squad after being appointed to the provisional squad). He was substituted on in two group games (against Cameroon and Japan ). However, he was unable to prevent the Danes from being eliminated after the group stage.
