Jakob Schmidt (Author)

Jakob Schmidt (* 1978 in Göttingen ) is a German translator, author of Fantastik and bookseller.

He has translated works by Kim Stanley Robinson , KJ Parker , Michael Grant and Catherine Jinks into German. In 2012, together with Jasper Nicolaisen , he was awarded the Kurd-Laßwitz Prize for his translation of David Marusek's collection of stories We were beside ourselves with happiness . He has been co-owner of the renowned Berlin bookstore Otherland since 2013 . Also in 2013, his first collection of shorter stories Nothing Evil was published .

In 2010 he took part in the literary experiment Hinterland published by Karla Schmidt , an anthology published by Wurdack , for which 20 authors wrote science fiction stories based on music by David Bowie .
