Jasper Nicolaisen
Jasper Nicolaisen (* 1979 in Kiel ) is a German translator, journalist and author.
Life
After graduating from the Johanneum in Lüneburg, Nicolaisen studied American studies , sociology and educational science at the Humboldt University and the FU Berlin . In 2003/04 he studied at Georgetown University on a Fulbright scholarship . After completing his master's degree in American studies in 2007, he became a research assistant at the Free University and began a dissertation at the Humboldt University in educational sciences. He has been working as a freelance translator and author since 2011. Nicolaisen also works as an educator and systemic therapist.

Nicolaisen has been working as a freelance translator and author since 2011. He translated works by Jocelynn Drake , Samuel R. Delany and Stacia Kane into German. In 2012, together with Jakob Schmidt , he was awarded the Kurd-Laßwitz Prize for his translation of David Marusek's collection of stories We were beside ourselves with happiness .
In 2010 he took part in the literary experiment Hinterland published by Karla Schmidt , an anthology published by Wurdack , for which 20 authors wrote science fiction stories based on music by David Bowie . Also in 2010 a contribution by him appeared in the non-fiction book Horror as everyday life for the television series Buffy - The Vampire Slayer .
Nicolaisen publishes articles in anthologies and writes a. a. for testcard , new germany , jungle world and taz . He has been a columnist for the feminist magazine an.schlag since 2019 .
In his novels, he mostly deals with the subjects of family, growing up and gender roles from a queer perspective in a humorous way .
His novel A Beautiful Dress was nominated for the 2017 hotlist of independent publishers.
