Jakob Stürzinger

Johannes Jakob Stürzinger (born December 6, 1853 or 1855 in Wilen bei Neunforn , † June 12, 1903 in Würzburg ) was a Swiss Romance and Medievalist .

life and work

Stürzinger received his doctorate in Zurich with Heinrich Breitinger on conjugation in Romansh (Winterthur 1879), completed his habilitation in Bonn with Wendelin Foerster , was a private lecturer in Bonn until 1885, from 1885 to 1890 professor at Bryn Mawr College in Philadelphia, from 1890 to 1892 private lecturer in Munich , 1892 associate professor for Romance philology in Tübingen for one semester and from 1892 to 1900, as successor to Eduard Mall, full professor of modern philology (Romance and English studies) in Würzburg (successor: Heinrich Schneegans ). Stürzinger died of a nervous disease at the age of 47.
