Jakob Teutelkofer († May 23, 1454 ) was abbot of Kremsmünster Abbey .

Jakob Teutelkofer came from a noble family and was confirmed as Abbot of Kremsmünster on March 4, 1419, three days after the resignation of his predecessor Abbot Hermann, in the presence of the papal commissioners .

At the beginning of his tenure, Teutelkofer bought several realities. On July 6, 1419 in Florence, Pope Martin V gave him confirmation of the privileges he had previously received for the monastery. Three years later, on May 5, 1421, Duke Albrecht also confirmed to the monastery all rights and freedoms acquired so far.

The time of the Hussite Wars

During his term of office, the so-called Hussite Wars also fell , from which the monastery was mainly affected by increased taxes from 1426 to 1433. Despite difficult circumstances during this time, Abbot Teutelkofer managed to find several companies that were economically advantageous for the monastery. In addition to the foundation of a chapel consecrated to St. Erasmus in the parish of Steinerkirchen , the construction of the church of St. Leonhard in 1431 in the parish of Pettenbach should be mentioned. His accomplishments also include the expansion of the church in Adlwang , for which he received considerable indulgences from Pope Eugene IV .

As the nobility became more and more rapacious and took advantage of the ecclesiastical goods, in 1449 Teutelkofer had all the assets, freedoms and rights of the monastery set up by a public notary and certified by Abbot Thomas von Lambach and the abbots von Garsten and Gleink as impartial arbitrators.

During his 35 years in office he proved to be a clever and generous head of the monastery, under which the monastery was relieved of all debts and enriched with new goods. He died on May 23, 1454.
