Jakob Weeser-Krell (born December 5, 1843 in Ehrenbreitstein , Rhine Province ; † August 13, 1903 at Schloss Haus in Wartberg ob der Aist , Upper Austria ) was a German-Austrian engineer and industrial painter .

Life

Weeser-Krell was one of the painters and draftsmen who specialized in the representation of factories. He perfected a method of developing bird's-eye views using central projection . This enabled him to depict monumental factory views from a great height. In 1875 he founded his "Institute for Perspective" in Trier . In 1886 he stayed in Rome, where he prepared his main work, View of St. Peter and the Vatican in Rome from the Janiculum . In 1891 he moved to Upper Austria. In 1896 he leased the Schloss Haus in Wartberg ob der Aist and set up an art institute. After his death, his son Ferdinand Weeser Krell (1883–1957) continued the company, which was a brand name for factory views, there until 1911. The Kölnischer Kunstverein honored Weeser-Krell with a special exhibition.
