Jakob Zeiss

Franz Jakob Zeiß (also Zeiss ) (born October 29, 1886 in Lambsheim , † March 2, 1952 in Mannheim ) was a German worker and politician ( KPD ). Among other things, Zeiss was a member of the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

Live and act

Jakob Zeiss was a leather worker from Fürth (Odenwald) . His parents were the factory worker Nikolaus Zeiss and his wife Margaretha, née Fischer. Franz Jakob Zeiss was married to Elisabetha, née Rhein.

After attending primary school in Fürth, he learned the leatherworking trade and in the following years worked in brick, iron and leather factories. From 1910 to 1919, Zeiss was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). From 1919 to 1923 he was a member of the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (USPD). In 1923 he finally joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD).

From December 7, 1931 to May 9, 1932 he was a member of the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse for his party. In the Reichstag elections of November 1932, he was elected as a candidate of the KPD for constituency 33 (Hessen-Darmstadt) as a member of the Reichstag in Berlin. At the same time (November 5, 1932), Zeiß was dismissed without notice because of his work as chairman of the works council at the Hirsch Lederwerk in Weinheim.

After the Second World War he was a member of the Advisory State Committee for the KPD from February 26, 1946 to July 14, 1946 .
