Jakob von der Kuhlen

Johann Jakob von der Kuhlen (born April 12, 1777 in Meiderich ( Rhineland ), † April 15, 1862 in Drechen near Hamm ) was a German Protestant theologian and President of the Märkische General Synod .

Life

Jakob von der Kuhlen was born to the pastor Johann Jakob Arnold von der Kuhlen and Anna Margarete Wurm. After attending high school in Duisburg , he enrolled in 1795 at the local university to study theology.

After passing the exams, von der Kuhlen became assistant preacher in Herringen in 1801 , then adjunct and received the ordination for the clergy there on April 14, 1802 . As a pastor, he then looked after the congregation in Herringen until 1836, during which time he carried out numerous other activities: Between 1820 and 1823, as well as 1826 and 1829, he was superintendent of the Hamm church district and in 1834 and 1835 he was president of the Märkische general synod in the Old Prussian Ecclesiastical province of Westphalia .

In 1836 he moved to the pastor's office in Drechen . His successor as President was Christian Nun . Von der Kuhlen retired on October 31, 1853.

Since September 22, 1802 he was married to Friederike Engels († 1834).

Von-der-Kuhlen Strasse in Herringen was named after von Kuhlen.
