Jakobus Wössner

Jakobus Wössner (born October 8, 1921 in Süßen , Baden-Württemberg ; † October 8, 1975 in Linz , Upper Austria ) was an Austrian sociologist and Catholic theologian of German origin.

After training as a Roman Catholic priest , Wössner was ordained in 1956. He then studied economics , philosophy and sociology and received his doctorate in 1961. A year later, he received his habilitation .

From 1963 to 1968 he was a private lecturer at the University of Erlangen and from 1966 also a lecturer at the University of Bochum . From 1968 until his death on his 54th birthday, Wössner was full professor of sociology and head of the Institute for Social Philosophy and General Sociology at the University of Social and Economic Sciences Linz (since 1975 Johannes Kepler University Linz ).

Wössner was a member of the German Society for Sociology and the Austrian Society for Sociology .
