Jakow Borissowitsch Roswal (born December 21, 1932 in Odessa ; died July 26, 2015 ) was a Russian engineer and radio technician , chief designer of the Soviet Research Institute for TV and Radio, and Honored Inventor of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR).

Life

Roswal was born into a wealthy Jewish family in Odessa. During these years the country's population suffered from hunger and political oppression. People were jailed on suspicion of espionage. His father, Boris Semenovich, a chief engineer of a factory, did not escape this fate, and in 1937 he was sent to the Gulag . Then Boris Semenovich worked in a secret research center ("Sharashka") until his death in 1963.

In 1950 Roswal graduated from ten classes of secondary school with a gold medal and began studying in Moscow at the University of Geodesy and Cartography. He couldn't go to other universities because his father wasn't fully rehabilitated.

After completing his studies, he was sent to the Far East as a geodesist , where he worked in different cities for around five years. In 1963 his father was rehabilitated and Roswal was admitted to the Moscow Energy Institute and studied in the field of "Industrial Electronics ". From 1963 he worked as an engineer at the Research Institute for Television and Radio (VNIITR). In collaboration with WA Petropawlowski, he developed a laboratory model of the first Soviet color television camera. After 10 years of work, he was appointed the main designer of this institute. During this time he made most of his inventions.

Roswal retired in 2012 at the age of eighty. He died of cancer on July 26, 2015. His remains were buried in the Wagankowo Cemetery .

Inventions and patents

Jakow Borissowitsch Roswal was the author of many outstanding inventions, including the first Soviet color radio camera. A total of around 50 inventions and patents were registered. For example:
