Yakov Gilelewitsch Panowko ( Russian Яков Гилелевич Пановко , scientific. Transliteration Jakov Gilelevič Panovko * 16 . Jul / 1. March  1913 greg. In Kobrin ; † 30th April 2002 in Berlin ) was a Russian physicist , the theoretical in the fields and applied mechanics was a professor.

From 1943 onwards, Yakov Panovko taught at the Leningrad Military Academy of Aviation, at which he was appointed professor at the end of 1944 at the Chair of Aircraft Design and Strength. For over 15 years of his activity since 1950 he headed the chairs of several universities in Rigas (Latvian State University 1950–1958, Polytechnic Institute of Rigas 1958–1963, Institute of Civil Aviation Rigas 1963–1964). Panowko has been a member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences since 1958 and an academic since 1992.

In the years 1964–1984, Professor Panowko headed the chair for theoretical mechanics at the Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute (LSI), today State Marine Technical University of St. Petersburg (MTU)). He then worked as a professor at the chair for eight years. Professor yes. Panowko was chairman of the state examination commission at the chair for "Mechanics and Process Control", which was headed by Professor AI Lurie at the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.
