Jakub Holoubek began playing skeleton in 2008 and has been part of his country's national team ever since. In December 2008 he made his international debut in the European Skeleton Cup and finished 29th in his first two races in Altenberg . A month later he finished 20th at the 2009 Junior World Championships in Königssee . With a 12th place in Königssee and eleventh place in Igls , the Czech pushed himself close to the top ten results in the 2009/10 season . Holoubek could not quite continue this development in the 2010/11 season and did not get beyond 16th place in Altenberg as the best result. Nevertheless, he was nominated by his association for the Skeleton World Championship 2011 in Königssee, where he finished 29th.
