James Andrew Korman
James Andrew Korman (* 8. February 1870 in Danvers , Massachusetts , USA ; † 1946 / 1947 ) was an American composer of choral music .
Life
James Andrew Corman was born in Danvers / MA in 1870, the fifth of at least seven children. His father was a shoemaker in Massachusetts, who immigrated to Boston with his parents before 1855 and was naturalized in 1868. He was baptized as Philipp Jakob Chormann in August 1839 in Jöhlingen near Karlsruhe . His mother Bridget (née McDonald) was born in Ireland in 1839 and married Philipp Korman in Boston in 1860.
James A. Korman went to school in Danvers and, when he was 30 years old, still lived with his parents in Salem, Massachusetts . He is mentioned in the US Census 1900 as a "musician". One of his first works was published in Salem in 1896, a song with piano accompaniment: "How could you leave me? Song & Refrain", dedicated to Mr. Joseph Andrew with a text by Monroe H. Rosenfeld .
