James B. Fry

James Barnet Fry (born February 22, 1827 in Carrollton , Illinois , † July 11, 1894 in Newport , Rhode Island ) was an American general and military organizer.

Fry was on the Military Academy in West Point trained and then appeared in 1847 in the army of the United States of America. He took part in the campaign against Mexico and then became a teacher at the West Point Military Academy. During the Civil War he fought against the southern states from 1861 to 1863 .

As a general professor in 1863 he was given the task of enforcing the conscription introduced in 1863 and of creating the necessary replacement for the army. Fry raised to 1866 1.120.621 recruits from leaving 76,562 flags refugees bring in and had the end of the Civil War still 2,254,063 Paid military in his sample rolls. His office was dissolved by the law of August 28, 1866.

James B. Fry died in Newport on July 11, 1894.
